Each patient’s recovery from surgery is different. However, typically we find our patients are up and about within the first 48 hours after surgery. Tenderness and soreness usually resolve in the first week, and after 2-4 days, most patients are back at work, and resuming normal activities. Exercise will have to wait until 10-14 days after surgery, by which time the majority of swelling should have resolved.
You may experience difficulty eating, talking, and smiling for the first few days after surgery. You should plan to eat soft foods for the first week of your recovery.
Any discomfort will be well-controlled during the recovery period by medications, prescribed by your surgeon. You may also have special garments given to you, along with instruction as to how and when to wear these supportive medical wraps after your surgery.
Your Plastic Surgeon will see you for several post-operative appointments, to check on your healing and adjust any instructions. The first of these post-operative appointments will happen 7-10 days after surgery when your stitches are removed.
All of these post-operative needs and appointments are included in your surgical package, so you’ll never have to worry about incurring additional costs, and because we believe post-operative care is very important to you achieving your best possible results.
